Garten München Becomes Part of IHM

The existing Garten München trade show brand will no longer be staged as a separate event. Its content will be integrated into the new Outdoor Living & Garden area at Internationale Handwerksmesse.

For exhibitors, the established garden and outdoor product categories will remain in place. At the same time, the garden sector will be positioned more clearly within contemporary living environments – precisely where visitors are looking for inspiration, solutions and products for specific projects.

Answers to the most important questions about the development of the garden area can be found in our Q&A for exhibitors.

Q&A for exhibitors

Why Is the Garden Sector Being Integrated More Closely into IHM?

Consumers no longer think in terms of separate trade show brands or individual product categories. They think in complete living environments.

Anyone building, modernising or redesigning a home increasingly considers indoor and outdoor spaces together. The new structure reflects this development more clearly in our communications, marketing and visitor journey by integrating the garden sector more closely into Internationale Handwerksmesse and Heim+Handwerk.

This connection already exists. Garten München has previously been accessible with the same ticket as IHM and has already formed part of the overall event.

The new structure is therefore not a break with the past, but the next logical step. It makes more visible what visitors already expect: integrated solutions for interiors, outdoor living, design and quality of life.

What Are the Benefits of Closer Integration for Exhibitors?

Greater Relevance within Contemporary Living Environments

Garden and outdoor products will be connected more clearly with interiors, building, lifestyle and quality of life.

This positions the garden as an integral part of modern homes and living environments. It enables clearer visitor communication and creates a closer link with specific building, renovation and design projects.

For exhibitors, this means placing products in a broader and more commercially relevant context.

Clearer Expectations and Better-Qualified Contacts

IHM stands for specific projects, practical solutions and a strong willingness to invest in the home.

This is a major advantage for garden and outdoor exhibitors. You meet visitors who are not merely looking for general inspiration, but are already actively considering building, modernisation and design projects.

Closer integration also creates clearer expectations before visitors arrive. They will recognise more readily that garden products form part of a broader world of interiors, outdoor living and lifestyle.

As a result, visitors can plan their trip more deliberately and arrive with a more specific interest in garden, outdoor and design solutions. This creates more relevant conversations, better-qualified enquiries and higher-value contacts.

IHM Visitors Could Already Access the Garden Area. What Is the Additional Benefit?

The connection between Garten München and Internationale Handwerksmesse already existed.

The principal advantage is therefore not simply greater reach, but stronger positioning for the garden sector.

Garden and outdoor products will be linked more visibly with interiors, building, outdoor living and quality of life. At the same time, the content will be communicated more clearly and integrated more effectively into the visitor journey.

This gives visitors a clearer understanding of what to expect and strengthens the relevance of garden products within contemporary homes and living environments.

Will the Existing Product Categories Remain?

Yes. The established themed areas and product categories will remain.

These include:

  • Garden design
  • Balconies and terraces
  • Garden furniture
  • Hot tubs and wellness
  • Barbecues and BBQ accessories
  • Sun and insect protection
  • Raised beds
  • Garages and fencing
  • Further garden and outdoor products and services

The development will take place gradually, allowing the garden and outdoor sector to become more closely integrated into contemporary living environments over the long term.

Garden products will continue to form a distinct and important part of the exhibition portfolio, reaching visitors who are actively designing, modernising and enhancing their homes

What Will Happen to the Stage Programme and the Heinz Czeiler Cup?

Visitors will continue to benefit from an attractive programme of talks, information and expert advice.

The Das Haus forum, which will be integrated directly into Hall C2, will provide a central platform for inspiration, specialist knowledge and practical insights relating to interiors, building, modernisation and garden design.

As part of the new direction, the Heinz Czeiler Cup for florists will no longer take place.

Will the Garden Sector Become Less Important?

No. Quite the opposite.

Garden remains an important part of the trade show. Closer integration will ensure that it is viewed more clearly in connection with interiors, outdoor living, design and quality of life.

Our aim is to strengthen the relevance and visibility of the garden sector and connect it even more closely with visitors’ interests, plans and investment projects.

What Roles Will IHM and Heim+Handwerk Play for Garden and Outdoor Exhibitors?

Garden and outdoor products will be integrated more closely into two established trade show environments: Internationale Handwerksmesse and Heim+Handwerk.

The two events address different visitor motivations and target groups.

IHM has a stronger focus on specific projects, modernisation and implementation. Heim+Handwerk places greater emphasis on inspiration, interiors, lifestyle and new trends.

These different approaches complement one another. They give exhibitors the opportunity to position garden and outdoor products within different living and decision-making contexts throughout the year.

Depending on your target audience and product range, exhibiting at both events can unlock additional potential – from visitors with concrete investment plans to consumers looking for new ideas and inspiration.

What Will Change Organisationwise?

Applications will in future be submitted through the IHM exhibitor portal. The pricing structure will also be aligned with that of IHM.

Some previous special conditions and tiered rates will gradually be incorporated into the standardised IHM pricing structure.

Hall C2 at Internationale Handwerksmesse will also be restructured as part of the development, with an even clearer focus on building, outdoor living and quality of life. This will create additional opportunities for visibility, stronger thematic connections and a clearer visitor journey throughout the hall.

At Heim+Handwerk, the garden sector will be integrated into Hall B5, where it will complement the Building & Outdoor area.

Will Exhibiting Become More Expensive?

For many existing Garten München exhibitors, price changes will remain moderate and will continue to be largely based on standard inflationary adjustments.

As part of the integration, conditions will gradually be aligned with the standardised IHM pricing structure. The precise impact will depend on your previous participation package and individual requirements.

We will be pleased to discuss your specific situation with you directly. Our aim is to provide clarity at an early stage and work with you to create the right participation package for IHM 2027.

I Have Already Booked a Stand. What Happens Now?

All existing bookings will remain valid.

The exhibitors concerned will be informed in good time about the next steps, hall planning and organisational details.

No additional action is currently required. Our team will guide you through the transition and is available to answer any questions personally.
