An insight into avantgarde international jewellery design is provided by a small but representative selection from the collection of the Deutsche Goldschmiedeschule Hanau as part of the theme boulevard. Here there are works by internationallly recognised jewellery artists such as David Watkins, Anton Cepka, Perter Chang and Hermann Jünger. One participant in the theme boulevard is the vocational college for design, jewellery and utensils of the Pforzheim Technical College for Jewellery and Watches. The motto of the exhibition this year is “Pure-Pure”. The double meaning of the word is reflected in the program. Apart from showing craft techniques, there is also an investigation into the purity of materials and colour.

«Handwerk & Design» 2010 provides a special platform for winners of the BKV Prize 2009 for Young Applied Arts: all the work of the prize-winners and of the applicants who made it through the final round is exhibited here - for the first time since the award ceremony. The BKV prize is awarded by the renowned Bayerischer Kunstgewerbeverein e.V. (Bavarian Craft Council) to talented youngsters in the field of arts and crafts.

«Handwerk & Design» also houses the mobile exhibition "Speed" by Think Tank e.V., a European initiative for applied arts and fine arts which is currently touring European galleries.
